Cancer Awareness
For todays class, Mr.Schick allowed us to go to the cancer fair. There were a couple different tables that talked about different cancers, symptoms of that cancer and ways you can prevent it. The table that I had the most interest in was the table that prevented smoking and tobacco use. The table had two different lungs sitting on the table. The difference between them was one had twenty years of smoking in them and the other was perfectly healthy. The table also had the teeth that suffered from chewing tobacco. Looking at all these things kind of scared me because there isn't a time where I don't see my grandparents smoking or my dad chewing tobacco. It scares me because I don't want a cancerous disease to ruin there life the way the lady at the table told me there was a strong possibilities that would happen to them especially my grandparents who have been smoking for over 30 years. It doesn't make sense to me how my dad can do something that he know is killing him. After school today I gave my dad the pamphlet that talked about the effects of chewing tobacco and he laughed it off. He even ended up throwing it away. It didn't make any sense to me why he didn't seem to care he was causing himself fatal consequences. I guess in the long run he'll be upset he started this addiction.
